In 2022 the charitable arm of Lions International, the Lions Clubs International Foundation provided grant funding to undertake infrastructure projects that assist communities recover from the 2020 bushfires, create community connectedness and/or increase resilience in the event of another disaster event.
As part of a Community and Council project to improve facilities and space for community connection in the Quaama Memorial Park, Lions constructed a 5m x 5m picnic shelter with wheelchair accessible picnic furniture, plus park furniture with adjacent wheelchair space. This partners with the other elements of the new facilities which include new play equipment, accessible play equipment and a potential pizza oven.
